If furnace issues are not addressed, your system could suddenly stop working and leave you and your family in the cold. However, there are some warning signs you can look out for to know when it's time for furnace service or replacement before your system stops running.

Furnace Age

The typical life expectancy of furnaces is between 12-17 years. If your furnace is 15 years or older it's a safe bet to start furnace shopping now. Buying a new furnace isn't a decision you want to have to make in an emergency. Give yourself enough time to look through and weigh all of your possibilities.

More Frequent Furnace Repairs

The last two years of a furnace's life are when your system ends up with the most breakdowns. Start adding up the money you've been spending on furnace repair the last two years - a new system could be more cost efficient.

Strange Noises

Have you heard any strange sounds coming from your system? Furnaces start making weird noises around the end of their lifecycle. If your furnace is switching on and off frequently or blowing chilly air, it's time to think about getting your system replaced.

A Dry or Dusty Home
